A mother of 3 boys, I'm left wondering what kind of mishap will land us into the ER next. With that it was fate that one of my toddlers decided to shove a tic tac breathmint into his nose. He came to me in tears as the cinnamon coating began to burn his sensative sinuses. So I called my doctor's panicked that this may be a serious problem. I explain to a nurse what happened and she seemed a little confused about how i should handle the situation but directed me to come in immediately. When we arrived, the nurses rushed me into an examining room. The doctor came in swiftly and apologized for any wait as he was coming off his lunch break for this emergency. He checked my son's nose and nothing was seen. He seemed panicked and brought in a sterile tray with miscellaneous tools. At this point i'm really scared as they tell me a sedative would be needed to remove the object. I decided then to exclaim that perhaps "it desolved". My doctor then retorded snidely that a "thumbtack" can't simply desolve. It was then I had to restate exactly what my son had put into his nose. Embarrased was the nurse who had a strong foreign accent that had misunderstood my initial emergency call.
