The first time we brought our triplets on a vacation to the ocean, we traveled approximately 16 hours to get to our vacation destination. Our first day there, we loaded all four kids into the minivan and drove the short distance to the beach. We lugged all of the kids and the stuff that goes with them from the parking lot to the beach. As soon as we reached the sand, we had three kids refusing to walk any further. We carried them to the blanket and sat them down. We thought they would spend a little time becoming familiar with their surroundings and would quickly realize how much fun the beach could be. Boy were we wrong!! All three remained on the blanket the whole day! As for going anywhere near the water, no way!! We spent a week on this vacation and ended up spending far more time at the pool than on the beach!! What a waste..By the end of the week, only one child was willing to walk on sand and none of them wanted anything to do with the ocean. We are going to brave the 16 hour drive to the ocean yet again this year now that the boys are four. Let's hope we have much better luck this trip or else we will be back at the pool!!!!
