My 3 year old son got a sliver stuck in his finger. Every time I would attempt to get it out (whether I touched his finger or not) he would scream bloody murder and fling around making it impossible. Seeing that it was getting red with infection I sat him on the bathroom counter and told him I had to take it out now and that if he didn't let me I would just have to cut off his finger. This didn't have the affect I was hoping for so after another 5 or so frustrated minutes I stomped into the kitchen took the biggest knife I could find and placed it next to him on the bathroom counter. I told him that I would now take out the sliver or remove his finger. I'm pleased to say that my son still has 10 fingers and 10 toes to this day and a mommy laugh to share with others.
