You're Not My Mother

My husband used to work out of town Mon. through Fri. At the time my daughter was 4 and my son was an infant. We were all enjoying some time in the backyard one weekend. I had given my daughter a disposable camera and she was taking pictures of everything in the backyard. She asked if she could go out front and take pictures and I told her that was fine as long as she stayed in the front yard. A few minutes later, I sent my husband out front to check on her. They both come back and it's obvious that he's upset. I ask what's wrong and he tells me that he informed our daughter that she needed to come back to the backyard. She stated that she wasn't finished taking pictures. He said, "If you don't come over here right now, you're going to be grounded." She turned to him without missing a beat and said "You can't tell me what to do. You're not my mother." He fully expected me to punish her for this outburst. I laughed and told him no way was I going to punish her for telling the truth!
