When you have a baby you are immensely sleep deprived, especially when you are nursing, going back to a full-time job, pumping breast milk and having two cats. After having Jacob, I went back to work full-time, working 40 hours a week, still trying to breastfeed my son, pumping milk at work and wake in the wee hours of the morning, sleepy-eyed to give my son the best nutrition possible. Doing the best for my son, right? I have always been prone to talking in my sleep, but I didn't know that if you have a tendency to talk in your sleep you have a higher risk of SLEEPWALKING! One night a few months after Jacob was born, I heard him crying in the middle of the night or so I thought. Imagine my surprise when I picked up my son and opened my pajamas with my eyes still closed to find one of my cats, Ezra, almost to my nipple. My scream woke my husband.. I dropped the cat and quickly pulled my pajama top closed. My husband was laughing with the most stunned look on his face. I am still mortified by this moment and have only shared this with 1 or 2 close friends but I find it funny enough of a moment to be shared with "In the Motherhood" as it is a moment I will never forget.
